Kenner Starting Lineups FAQ PAGE
Question #1. Why should I buy from DisplayCaseArt.com?
Answer to #1. Reputation... We do everything we can to make the customer happy.
Unlike sales on Ebay or other SLU boards. Many times a buyer makes a purchase from Ebay or persons on SLU boards and will NOT back up the claim if a problem comes up.
Question #2. Are DisplayCaseArt.com prices negotiable?
Answer #2. YES... They all are. We have to start at a price. A figure is only worth what someone is willing to pay. Prices are not set in gold. We could put $5000 on every figure. But that doesn't mean we will sell it at that. Or we could put "make offer" on every single figure. That would then have every slu buyer calling, tieing up our phone lines and personnel, making offers that are way out of line. So we start at a price and wait.. Very simple.
Question #3. So someone can call up and on a $300 figure make a reasonable offer of say $200? Or $150?
Answer #3. YES. We want customers to make offers. If we can take it we will. If the offer is too low and we have more then the offer in the figure we will say NO. It's not like we will not deal and make better offers for the more you buy.
Question #4. What kind of problems can come up with buying from others on Ebay or Slu Boards?
Answer #4. Not all sellers are bad. But way too many sellers purposely list or tell a buyer the figure is in better condition than it is. Or they simply do not know how to grade a figure.
So when the buyer gets the figure and it is not to his or her expectations, the buyer wants to return the figure. This is where the problem comes in.
With some EBAY members and some Slu board members they will NOT allow you to return the item. Or you can never make contact with the seller. Some sellers will allow you to return the item minus a whole list of deductions.. Such as Ebay fees, PayPal fees, even as far as wanting new EBAY relisting fees. You can lose the cost of shipping plus have to ship them back.
Question #5. What does DisplayCaseArt.com do when a problem comes up?
Answer #5. WE FIRST OFF HAVE NEVER HAD ONE SINGLE PERSON ASK FOR REFUNDS OR RETURNS. NOT EVEN ADJUSTMENTS ON THEIR COSTS. AND THAT IS SINCE WE STARTED SELLING FIGURES IN 1992.
But what we will do is refund the entire costs. Even the original shipping costs plus the cost to ship it back.
Question #6. What do the grade numbers mean on the 1988-1990 figures?
Answer #6. It is what we think the figure will grade at by AFA. Or very close.
Question #7. Why is a grade to DisplayCaseart.com figures important?
Answer #7. It tells the customer the condition of that figure. It helps to tell what condition the buyer can expect the figure to be in. It is a great tool instead of a seller that will advertise or tell you his figure is "REALLY NICE SHAPE" or "ITS CLEAN". Some sellers say they dont know how to grade a figure but that the figure is so nice you will have a hard time finding nicer. The grade number will directly effect the costs of the figures. The higher the grade the higher the price. Some figures are more scarce than others and that also effects the cost.
Another reason for higher prices is that over time the values rise. We have to anticipate the rise in cost. Because we have to try to replace that figure and the cost will be higher when we go to restock that figure.
Question #8. How does DisplayCaseArt.com get their figures?
Answer #8. We get them from many places. Many have been here for some time and I do not recall all of them. But many has been purchased from people that want to sell their collection. Some we have traded other figures for. And some come from ebay members.
Question #9. Why do some figures list at DisplayCaseArt.com for so much?
Answer #9. We must pay for all the figures. Many we have paid top dollar for. We must keep as many as we can financially keep in stock. We like to offer the customer a chance to get several figures they might want from one source. This keeps the customers shipping costs down.
In the last 3-7 years SLU sales have been very slow. So the money we spent is tied up for long periods of time.
Recently the older SLUs have started to make a come back and prices are going higher.
Question #10. Why doesn't DisplayCaseArt.com send the figures in to AFA to get graded if DisplayCaseArt.com thinks that the figure is in such good gradable condition?
Answer #10. First off we are very very tough on our grades. We also know that the grade we give is honest and correct. So to spend $50 to get it shipped to AFA, have them grade it and ship it back is not worth it to us.
And secondly if we have the figure graded and it is a high grade by AFA the customer then has no chance of that figure being worth more than what he pays for it from us, in the short term. In the long term over years the figure will increase but more slowly.
Atleast this way a customer that buys say a $300 figure and gets it graded and it grades high like our grade number reflects, then instantly the value increases by as much as 3-4 times. We could get them graded but then we would be listing that figure at $1000. So sometimes a customers gets a great deal.
Question #11. If AFA graded figures make the figure more valuable then why shouldn't a buyer have all his figures graded?
Answer #11. In DisplayCaseArt.com's opinion the figures that do not grade over our grade of 84 is not worth the $50 grading fees because the grade will add cost to the figure without adding value. An AFA final grade of 75 will not increase its value and might even lower it.
Only older hard to find figures in nearmint or higher condition is worth the cost.
Question #12. So what is your advice in buying figures?
Answer #12. Several things. Basicly what we have said in this FAQ.
First and the most important. Buy from DisplayCaseArt.com or someone that you trust very much. Much like you trust your diamond jewelry with. Someone or a business that has a good reputation that will stand behind what they advertise.
Don't always try to buy from the cheapest person. Or on Ebay from a member or anyone for that matter, that will not give a total 100% MONEY BACK REFUND. That includes all your shipping cost, etc. And not just because they say they will stand behind it 100%. In todays high dollar values just telling you they will is not enough.
2nd off be patient. Do your homework on figures you want to purchase. Understand the refund method. Grade only really nice older tough to find figures.
Last. Don't be fooled by SLU boards listings or Ebay members listings.
We hope this helps and anyone that needs to ask anything. Please do....
